Look around you, at the world you can see all around you; what do you see?

You probably see buildings, streets, sidewalks, streetlights, fire hydrants, signs, and a great many other things. You probably see cars, trucks, bikes, or scooters - some parked, some moving along the streets. Maybe you see trains, subways, or streetcars. You likely also see people - people walking by, people working, people walking their dogs, people talking to other people, people texting on their smartphones, people doing many different things.

That is The World Above. It is a version of our modern world that exists in a parallel universe.

But not all is as it seems…

Hidden beneath the surface of all things that humans see is The World Below. It is that which humans ignore, because they fear the truth. It is that which hides from humans, because it's the only way for them to stay safe.

The World Below doesn't necessarily imply underground; it merely speaks about that which is hidden. These hidden things could exist on the surface world, but be cleverly disguised. Some things could even be hidden in plain sight, so to speak.

Every world has its villains; and in this world, that villain is Trans-Bio Industrial Research & Development (Inc.). Trans-Bio Industrial Research & Development (Inc.) is a multi-national genetics research company; it is commonly referred to as TBIRD.

It was TBIRD that developed the bio-mutagenic gel, Trans-Genetic Catalyst X71, responsible for creating the mutants that now populate the world.

As with most soulless corporations, TBIRD protects its intellectual property, trade secrets, and reputation vigorously. As a result, the origins and composition of the bio-mutagenic gel is shrouded in mystery; and TBIRD actively, but clandestinely, works to cover-up, suppress, or eliminate any and all evidence of their negligent handling of TGC-X71.
